First guest speakers for our Community Led Housing Roadshow confirmed

We’re pleased to announce the first of our roadshow guest speakers in June. Tom Johnston, founder trustee of Glendale Gateway Trust is the guest speaker for our Northallerton roadshow on 7 June and Martin Booth, Secretary of Hudswell Community Charity, will speak at our event in Richmond on 14 June

Martin will be sharing how their community led housing project in Hudswell, a small rural village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, has provided homes to rent at a truly affordable price so that  families and older people are able to stay in the village. In this podcast you can hear from the Flanagans, a young family who were able to move into community led housing built by Hudswell Community Charity. They discuss how their life was changed through the availability of new, more affordable community homes close to their family.

Tom will be speaking about how a community organisation can transform the local community in a rural area – from combatting isolation, to bringing in new services, homes and businesses to its residents. You can find out more about how Glendale Gateway Trust has been responsible for helping the community of Wooler flourish in this short video.

Our community led housing awareness roadshows are an opportunity for you to come along and find out how you can get involved with community led housing. We will introduce the hub and our services and look at examples of where community led housing has happened successfully around the country. You’ll also hear about live examples from guest speakers.
